No. 97 is part of an ongoing series that counts backward from No. 100. In this performance, two collaborators were connected to the gallery’s columns with elastic string and needles, and were also connected to a third person.
The collaborators challenged the architecture, and the architecture was challenged by their bodies. Movements then began: of silence; of communication from the artist, from each collaborator, and from the audience – bringing up thoughts, questions, and discussions. At times, the collaborators moved through the space; at other moments, the audience became one with the movement. The performance lasted approximately seven hours.
As they collectively explored this new mode of embodiment, the line between performer and audience disappeared, opening new channels for connection.
